But known as the Ennaikara-Samiyar by the native villagers

 

This Tirthankara statue was found in the fields of Pallipuram, a place in Subbareddypalayam area. He sits below the sky, no roof is there. Therefore, he has been sitting in deep meditation for about a thousand years or more.. in the sun and rain.

Historians say that the statue of this Tirthankara belongs to the Chola period of Kulothunga I (1070).

This statue is proof of the religions such as Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism were respected and protected during his time. So they flourished simutaneously

The Tirthankara is seen sitting on the half-padmasana with a peaceful face in a meditative posture. The two Samaradharis are beautifully carved on both sides of the Tirthankara. The Prabhamandal is carved behind the Tirthankara's head, around it are the branches of the Ashoka tree and a triumbrella(Mukkudai) above his head. The hands are slightly damaged.

 

The villagers call this Tirthankara as Ennaikara-Samiyar...

There is a folk tale  is prevailing amoung the villagers.

 

A folk tale is told that; Once upon a time, an oil merchant was passing through this place. He died suddenly while he crossing the place. So they carved an idol was  worshipped since. Therefore, those who  visit to that place;   do not ask where the Tirthankara idol is, but rather, where the Ennaikara-Samiyar idol is located, to identifying the spot of the idol.

எண்ணை சாமியார் என்று அழைக்கப்படும் அருகர்.

 

எண்ணைச் சாமியார் எனப்படும் இந்தத் தீர்த்தங்கரரை சுப்பாரெட்டிபாளையத்தின் ஒரு பகுதியான பள்ளிபுரம் எனும் ஸ்தலத்தின் வயல்வெளியில் காண முடிந்தது. வானமே கூரையாக அமர்ந்துள்ளார் இவர். அதனால் வெய்யிலிலும் மழையிலும் சுமார் ஆயிரம் வருடங்களாக ஆழ்நிலைத் தியானத்தில் அமர்ந்து இருக்கின்றார்.

வரலாற்று ஆய்வாளர்கள் இத்தீர்த்தங்கரர் சிலை முதலாம் குலோத்துங்கச்(1070) சோழர்காலத்தைச் சார்ந்தவராக கூறுகின்றனர்.

அவர் காலத்தில் இந்து, சமணம், பெளத்தம் போன்ற மதங்களும் போற்றிப் பாதுகாக்கப்பட்ட நிலையில் இருந்தன என்பதற்கு சான்று இச்சிலைவடிவம். அதனால் சமகாலத்தில் அவை வளர்ச்சியடைந்துள்ளன என்பது வரலாறு

 

தீர்த்தங்கரர் சாந்த முகத்துடன் தியானக் கோலத்தில் அர்த்த பத்மாசனத்தில் அமர்ந்தபடி காணப்படுகின்றார். சாமரதாரிகள் இருவரும் தீர்த்தங்கரரின் இருபுறமும் அழகாக வடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். தீர்த்தங்கரரின் தலைக்குப் பின்புறம் பிரபா மண்டலமும், அதைச் சுற்றி அசோக மரத்தின் கொடிகளும், அவர் சிரசிற்கு மேலே முக்குடையும் செதுக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது. கைகள் சிறிதளவு சிதலம் அடைந்த நிலையில் உள்ளது.

 

கிராம மக்கள் இந்தத் தீர்த்தங்கரரை எண்ணைக்காரர் சாமியார் அழைக்கின்றனர்... அதற்காக செவிவழி வழியாக கூறப்படும் கதை ஒன்று அக்கிராம மக்களிடையே நிலவுகிறது.

 

ஒரு சமயம் ஒரு எண்ணை வணிகர் இவ்வழியே வந்து கொண்டு இருந்தாராம். அவர் திடீரென அவ்விடத்தில் இறந்து விடவே அவருக்கு சிலைஎழுப்பி வழிபடுவதாகக் ஒரு பாமரக் கதையொன்று கூறப்படுகிறது. அதனால் அவரை தரிசிக்கச் செல்பவர்கள் தீர்த்தங்கரர் சிலை என்று கேளாமல், எண்ணைச்சாமியார் சிலை எங்கேயுள்ளது என்று வினவினால்ல் உடன் சிலையுள்ள ஸ்தலத்தை அடையாளம் காட்டுவர்.
